WhatsApp Not working on Android, iOS and Windows Phone 7 devices

WhatsApp Not working on Android, iOS and Windows Phone 7 devices:As revealed earlier in December 2016, WhatsApp has now dropped the support for older Android, iOS and Windows smartphones. To be precise, devices running Android 2.2 Froyo or older, iOS 6 or older and Windows Phone 7 OS will not be able to run WhastApp from now onwards. The reason behind the Facebook-owned company gave while announcing the decision last month was the percentage of such devices. As per latest Google Dashboard statistics, Android devices running on Android 2.2 Froyo or older are about 0.1% and only about 2.6% of iPhone users are on iOS 6 or older. Further, people using the 7-year old iPhone 3GS will also have to bid adieu to WhatsApp.

“While these mobile devices have been an important part of our story, they do not offer the kind of capabilities we need to expand our app’s features in the future,” said a spokesperson of WhatsApp in a blog post last month.

Interestingly, after imposing the same on BlackBerry OS, Nokia Symbian S40 and Symbian S60, WhatsApp in November 2016 said that the support for the above mentioned Operating System will be extended til June 2017.

WhatsApp discontinuing the support for older devices does make sense as the famous chat messenger has been adding a lot of features lately. Further, many of the older devices don’t support these latest features and the company has to work separately to cater such a small percentage of users. So if you are running any of the now non-supported OS on your device, we recommend you to either upgrade the OS or if that’s not possible, upgrade the device in order to continue enjoying WhatsApp.
